Welcome to the third edition of my new blog series featuring snackable social media tips. Each month I am sharing tips and tools professionals and businesses can utilize to take their social media efforts to the next level.

If you missed my first two tasty social media tips, you can check them out here:

  1. Snackable Social Media Tip: Do More with a Tweet
  2. Snackable Social Media Tip: Learn The Tricks of The Trade

As a social media practitioner, I’m often asked, “How do I use social media to reach and engage my customers, and how often should I post?” What I tell my friends, family and clients is simply this: What you put into social media is what you will get out of it. For example, most people join Twitter but end up abandoning it because they don’t know how to use it, don’t understand the lingo and don’t want to put in the necessary time to learn it. On a brand level, many companies want to utilize the power of social media to reach their customers, but don’t know where to start or how to begin engaging their customers. As a community manager, SEO specialist, data analyst, email marketer and blogger, I know that managing a company’s various social media profiles may not be the only task you’re responsible for. So I’ve compiled a daily checklist for Facebook and Twitter with some simple to-do’s to help you stay on task. My hope is that this list will help you balance your other job responsibilities while still being able to rock your company’s social media presence.

You can print out this checklist and keep it by your desk for a simple reminder of the basic to-do’s you should try to accomplish on Facebook and Twitter each day, week and month.

While it may feel daunting at first, accomplishing these easy tasks will give you a great start at keeping your social media presence active and engaging for your audience. Moving forward, there are many more social media tactics you can leverage to further engage and incentivize your audience. Think of this handy checklist as if you were dipping your toes in the ocean of social media. Don’t just stop there though, dive in and learn from your audience. Experiment with promotions, influencer outreach and content to really maximize your social media efforts.
